Art Statement
My artistic practice seeks to capture the ethereal through my engagement with Constructivism. My work explores fragmented form and disrupted line, tracing the play of shadow, reflection and refraction, while investigating negative space alongside the dynamics of single and double lines. Through this, initiating a dialogue between light and line, uncovering the aesthetic emotion that emerges from movement, illumination and space.
Drawing on a lineage of women - daughter, grandmother and great-grandmother - and supported by a lifetime of diaries, revealing the extraordinary hidden within the ordinary. As author Sabahattin Ali observes, “…a dash of curiosity is all it takes to stumble upon treasures never expected”.
My influences include artists; Marlow Moss, Agnes Martin, Cornelia Parker, Jessica Shareholder and Eva Rothschild.
